One of my favorite things is to watch people with exemplary skills perform. On my first trip to Jazz Fest in New Orleans, I stood no more than 5 feet from Wynton Marsalis and marveled at his skills with the trumpet. When coaching at West Point, I was always amazed at the rigor of military training and discipline by the Corps of Cadets. One of the masters I am now watching is Ron Johnson, the new CEO at JC Penney.

In case you haven’t heard, Pinterest, is a two-year-old social bookmarking site, that allows users to collect and share things about topics that interest them. I should say, obsess about. At the moment, for me this is about foods I will never prepare or ideas for weddings that may never happen, or I could never afford. This wedding one is truly embarrassing; I tell you it’s a sickness, an insidious sickness. And for that reason, I will be required to delete my daughters from this Q-Clips distribution.

I experienced the ER this weekend at one of the local hospitals. All is fine, but as I sat in the waiting room I started to think about Healthcare and why we still continue to struggle with crucial health-care issues.
2011 was a tough year. We're all hoping 2012 will be better, more stable and help us all get back on our feet. Of course these hopes are hung on a tumultuous election year, the most rapidly changing culture the United States has ever experienced, and a whole lot of uncertainty in general. It's not all doom and gloom though. Uncertainty can be just that: uncertain. Not inherently good or bad, just unknown. In many ways it is up to us as to what we will choose to do with the time we are given. Whether to sit back and hope for the best, or stand up and work for it, in whatever capacity we can. How's that for a cliche?

Today I attended two events both of which were focused on the need for and value of philanthropy in greater Los Angeles. There were about 75 people in these two meetings and the entire focus was on organizations and projects focused generally on people we don’t know. That’s right, people being involved to help their fellow man, people we may never meet, we may never know. These are people who simply want an opportunity for a good, safe and simple life. Not too much to ask, especially in a country as prosperous as ours. And yet, it seems to elude so many.

Hello Qclipers! We have been rushing to try and get one last issue out before the end of the year and as you can imagine it has not been easy given the “holiday crunch”. Clients want to get many settled before the Christmas / New Years week and many of us at QuantumMethod take our vacation time during that week as well. So, needles to say it has been a challenge. But, we did it!! I confess that I had a another topic in mind with more depth, but there is simply no time for meet to write it, so I will save it for January.
